If you've lost your taste and smell, try this!
People lose their taste and/or smell for a variety of reasons. No matter the cause, it's a bummer!!
Medications, medical treatments, old age, damage to our salivary glands, dry mouth, halitosis, too much alcohol, gum disease and other illnesses, as we are now acutely aware, can all lead to a loss of taste and smell.
While I am a big proponent of eating for health, eating delicious food that delights the taste buds is a pleasure all humans desire. For those addicted to the unnaturally intense flavors of highly processed foods, I hope you will take this time of not being able to taste anything to get some help retraining your brain to desire healthy, nutritious whole foods.
We all think of taste buds as being on our tongue, but they are also in our throats and on the roof of our mouths.1 Using this protocol may help you restore all your taste buds.
Typically 3-20% of the population has a diminished sense of smell or has lost the ability to smell entirely. This is known as anosmia or hyposmia. Until we lose our sense of smell, most people are unaware of how very important it is.
Without a keen sense of smell:
- we are unable to detect hazardous odors.
- needed bonding experiences within families can suffer.
- emotional intensity of some romantic situations can be reduced.2
- we are unable to prevent some unwanted situations (think stepping in something).
- stored memories cannot be activated by a familiar aroma.3
Regardless of why you've lost your taste or smell, this protocol may very well work for you.
Smell each Young Living (YL) essential oil individually for 20 seconds, per nostril, 2x a day! You can literally just open the bottle and inhale deeply.
- Rose (Lavender is the next best thing if you don't have Rose)
This YL protocol has helped many people who've lost their taste and smell, so I wanted to let you know! Other brands are not the same and likely will not offer the same results.
The great thing about this protocol is that you are using so very little of it when sniffing the aroma. You still get the benefits as you inhale, because substances can reach your blood stream in seconds through olfactory receptors.
If EOs are new to you, you may be surprised to know that they can support every system of your body and provide a vast array of health benefits. I use EOs daily to help me manage Lyme Disease and to help with an array of other issues I've had including a collagen disorder (Ledderhose Disease) and abnormal bone growth with great success!
